Stage by Stage

Many stories are floating over the social media about the COVID-19. Some of them are highly misleading. This makes it inevitable for us to put things in perspective. And to share the relevant and factual information that we have about the current pandemic. This way, we can help each-other to educate ourselves and keep people surround us well-informed. That said, I see so many people are discussing the stages of the pandemic, in this case COVID-19. And some of the facts of their discussion is not to the point- perhaps misleading. To explain this in simpler terms, we do have four stages for any pandemic. The fourth stage is not relevant at this moment, so I will focus on the other three stages here. Phase one for any epidemic is to go global; that is, it gets imported into other countries despite being not originated there. Here we declare it as the pandemic. In the second phase, the pandemic transmitted locally- by official accounts, we are at this stage- here we can trace the subjects by tracing the travel history and his contacts. This is the reason you see people have been asked for their travel history and contacts. Till this stage, we can control the spread of disease. At stage three, things started going out of control, and fear of 'community transfer' arise. In this phase, it becomes difficult to trace subject's history and not able to conclude how he infected with the disease. If this stage comes, it will become difficult for the country of our size and population to control it. Our healthcare will face the threat of getting breaking down. To put this in perspective, imagine you are calling the ambulance, and no-one is at the other end to receive your call. It is in this context we have to view the current situation and avoid being going out for at least the next few weeks. Till the picture about the pandemic gets clear.
